Black Rock Mountain Trip

Appalachian/Blue Ridge Biology/Geology/ENVS Field Trip Friday, November 8, 2024

Georgia State University Perimeter College

About

We’re taking a field trip to Black Rock Mountain and Scorpion Hollow in North Georgia on November 8. This trip is open to biology, geology, and environmental students. The North Georgia Appalachian and Blue Ridge Mountains are vital ecosystems within unique geology and wildlife communities. This will allow students to experience, first hand, the science that they learned in the classroom.

Please talk to your individual instructor as to what their policy is regarding credit for these field trips.

Who

Students – This trip is open to biology, geology, and environmental students.

Instructors – Three to four biology and geology professors will lead this trip.

Where and When

We will meet on the Newton Campus in the Geology Lab, room 1N-3200 no later than 9:30 AM on Friday, November 8, 2024. We will depart at 10 AM for our first stop, Black Rock Mountain State Park. What to Bring

Bring a pair of sturdy athletic shoes or boots, we’ll be walking in rugged terrain. It will also be cooler in November so dress accordingly. A water bottle is also a good idea.
